Pre Production before Recording
What is Pre Production? Well in my opinion it’s one of the most important parts of recording. I find when I’m producing a song demo for a songwriter or recording artist, when we sit down an hash out the arrangement make plans on the instruments we want , just basic planning of the recording our tracks come out so much better. Taking time to meet with your producer or whoever you have working with you on your session’s is the key to a successful recording . Pre producion is key.

Well we all know that most indie songwriters or recording artist are on a tight budget when it comes to recording. So the final stage of the recording process seems to get over looked many times. ” Mastering “. Mastering is the final stop of the recording process, the sheen, the icing on the cake. In today’s world it’s all about pump up the volume. How hot to make the final mix. Solutions….You can put a mastering plug on the mix buss of your nuendo or protools rig and find a nice preset setting and boom…it’s loud and sounds better than the straight mix, or you can go to a mastering studio with guy’s that have the right gear and ears that can make your recordings really sound like records. I recently went into Independent Mastering in Nashville,Tn. I’ve used them on several different projects and songs. These guy’s know there stuff and are very reasonable for there work….. As a a freelance independent music professional I’ve found out that the internet is a very powerful resource . In today’s world as the music scene has become a haven for the independent songwriter ,recording artist, bands and musicians, we all have to blaze their own trails now.Myself , working as a indie producer/recording engineer and drummer, I turned to the internet back in 2003. I’ve been able to develope cyber relationships with many talented musicians and songwriter/ artist across the globe to collaborate with on recordings and as a way to promote my production company .
I started two online related companies to help my musical career. The first one Nashville Drum Tracks , where you can get real acoustic drums for your songs and the second is my record production company Ultra Audio Productions. This type of thing has exploded in the last few years where more and more players are finding out that they have to use the internet as part of there networking .
My expeirence has been great and has kept me very busy these past few years….I’m using more new things as well…like this blog, using Skype to communicate to clients, having special recording offers available to help people get their music recorded. Anyway you look at it, it’s an independent world for many of us. Collaborating via the world wide web is really working..Make contact today with someone, you never know who you just might meet !
